Whether it’s a ground-level or a rooftop HVAC system, you can count on your HVAC system to keep your customers cool and comfortable while inside your facility. While no HVAC system is exactly the same, they all serve the same function. Here are some frequently asked questions we receive about commercial HVAC systems and the truth to if they are fact or fiction.
Fact or Fiction! Closing the air vents in a room or area that is used less will allow the system to use less energy and save you money on your energy bill.
FICTION: Closing the air vents will do the opposite of saving energy. This is because the HVAC system will have to work harder to produce more climate-controlled air as it isn’t all flowing out of your vents and is being blocked. Always keep all your vents open and cleaned to prevent climate-controlled air from being trapped.
Fact or Fiction! Refrigerant types can be interchanged if a full refrigerant flush is done on the HVAC system.
FICTION: HVAC systems will only operate off of one refrigerant type. The most common commercial refrigerant is R-410A. Mixing or interchanging refrigerants can lead to equipment malfunction or breakdown.
Fact or Fiction! HVAC filters should be changed quarterly to prevent particle and contaminant buildup.
FACT: If an HVAC filter isn’t changed quarterly it can reduce energy efficiency, contaminate your indoor air, and reduce air quality.
