What’s even more surprising is that the average technician median age isn’t getting any younger and most technicians will be looking to retire in the next 10 years. With this in mind, Investing in the future technicians of America has never been more important to the HVAC/R industry. If younger technicians are not able to replace the retiring technicians, there will be a technician shortage which could be devastating to the HVAC industry. CMS Nextech has realized this issue and has heavily invested in our apprenticeship program for new up-and-coming HVAC/R technicians.
Our apprenticeship programs allow new technicians to work and gain real on-the-job experience alongside seasoned HVAC professionals while earning their certifications to become licensed technicians. Apprentices will work on HVAC systems such as rooftop units, refrigeration systems, reach-in coolers, swamp coolers, and learn how to use the proper HVAC tools and equipment. After receiving the necessary certifications, new technicians then have the option to become full-time technicians with CMS Nextech.
